Do not complain about certain obscurities down here... I've done it intentionally ;)

Nagamandala: My first Kannada Play read

Best lines from 5 ecstatic Tamil songs :)
The songs in Indian movies most of the times are like- unnecessary pitstops. But, some great music and wonderful lyrics have emanated from this system.
Here,I jot down my favourite couple of lines from Tamil cinema songs. There are numerous marvelously written songs, but, here I am qouting the ones which immediately stand out in my head. And 4 out of the 5 are composed by A R Rahman,so, that's my distinction there:)
These extraordinary lines are witty, meticulous and are peaks of imagination. I shall try to give you a gist of these lines, because translating them is virtually(?actually) impossible!I tried really hard to translate, but it seems to get awful!Hats off to all these lyricists.
[format:Song(Movie)-Lyricist]
1.Puthu Vellai Mazhai(Roja)-Vairamuthu
உன் புடவை முந்தானை சாய்கயில் இந்த பூமி பூப்பூத்தது
இது கம்பன்பாடாத சிந்தனை உன்தன் காதோடு யார் சொன்னது
Beautiful exaggeration of the company with the girl by the guy,
The girl compares this exaggeration to an unwritten line by a great Tamil poet-Kamban;
2.Netru Illatha Maatram(Puthiya Mugam)-Vairamuthu
கடவுள் இல்லையென்றேன்- தாயை காணும்வரை;
கனவு இல்லையென்றேன்- ஆசை தோன்றும் வரை;
காதல் போய்என்று சொன்னேன்- உன்னை காணும் வரை;
கவிதை வரியின் சுவை- அர்த்தம் புரியும் வரை;
கங்கை நீரின் சுவை-கடலை சேரும் வரை;
காதல் சுவை ஒன்று தானே காற்று வீசும் வரை;
Amazing similes exemplifying the importance and pleasure of love in life. For example,You enjoy a line of poetry only until you comprehend it;But,It is love which you can enjoy to eternity.
3.Anbe Anbe(Jeans)-Vairamuthu
பெண்ணே உனது மெல்லிடை பார்த்தேன்-அடடா பிரமன் கஞ்சனடி;
சற்றே நிமிர்ந்தேன் தலை சுற்றி போனேன்-ஆஹா அவனே வெள்ளனடி;
An intimate description of the feminine features of the girl.
4.Anarkali(Kangalal Kaithu Sei)-Pa.Vijay
உலகத்திலயே மிக பெரும் பூவும் நீயடி;
நதிகளிளியே சின்னஞ்சிறு நதியும் நீயடி;
Metaphors at its best:You are the largest flower, and the smallest river in the world
5.Ayengaru veetu azhage(Anniyan)-Vairamuthu
வான் மழையில் நனைந்தால் பயிர்கள் உருவாகும்;
ஆண் மழையில் நனைந்தால் உயிர்கள் உருவாகும்;
Lines about the masculinity,written excellently:)
These amazing lines are actually indescribable in any other way except the way they are.The emotions these songs churn up are divine, linking them with many personal attachments.

Raghavendra @ Pecos!
I have discovered a new social networking tool(as put by my friends),by sipping two and a half mugs of Draught, for the very first time :)
I didn't do it because of peer pressure,or to emulate the 'metro' lifestyle. It was a personal inquisition which drove me to this adventure, encouraged by my today's entourage, which I enjoyed. Talking about,if I went high or anything,I guess I felt mildly tipsy just for a minute or so,that's all:)It was again a new lesson, wherein I learnt a lot many new terminlologies, and technologies behind the entire intrigue, which drives people crazy apart from me doing something for the first time ;)
I shall be limitedly available on this networking tool too;)Catch you all sometime then.

Stratum 2: 'Premature dotage' driven 'Absurd Chauvinism'
(Second post in my post series "The Question is Why!",11 Nov,2009)
Dotage:Feebleness or imbecility of understanding or mind,particularly in old age;
Chauvinism:Blind and absurd devotion to a fallen leader or an obsolete cause; hence, absurdly vainglorious or exaggerated patriotism.
I guess, the above definitions pretty much clears the clog of the post title(If at all there was one!).
I wonder how people find so many absurd reasons to channelise their efforts and time, instead of concentrating on the quintessential issues.I shall be expressing my views about the futile 'show of strength',and ridiculous opposition to logical scenarios by certain sects.
We have all been witnesses to the recent Linguistic upheaval a particular Chauvinistic group(instigated by a couple of their (mis)'leaders') is creating in Maharashtra. This isn't the only place in India where we can witness such atrocities. Linguistic Chauvinism is the very burning issue, which is a reason for a perennial under current between various neighboring states in India,as an example the infamous Karnataka-TamilNadu conflicts.
When issues such as Linguistic Chauvinism snowball, and grow demonically impeding the progress of the nation,or the betterment of the society,I wonder what goes on in the minds of the mislead mob-We,the people!
It is unfortunate to see regular manifestations of such insane instances,of which we are an equal part of. There are a million other issues,of hugely immense consequences to be dealt with rather than cribbing and quarreling over language or caste or creed,or any other trivial issue.
Encouraging a Language or culture will not happen by protesting and releasing provocative statements.A personal suggestion To promote a language-Endorse and help in the growth of Literature by Promoting writers,Subsidising books, inspiring students by Literary fests and not by polluting their minds by political meetings.
We still are a proud Developing country, and I guess we have grown comfortable with this excuse for leading a mediocre life in an average and imbalanced society. Let us concentrate our efforts and resources in breaking out of this secure but shameful carapace. We are all the culprits, and we should do our part in this already late atonement.

Free Software;Business models;Future Technology;Entrepreneurship;Politics;Ethics
This was the flow of a casual chat with a colleague in office yesterday. He wanted to talk about my inclination towards Free Software, and we got into an engrossing discussion.
I briefed him about the motive, consequence and path of the Free Software Movement. Touching upon the Freedom aspect, social significance and the technical ramifications it has and will continue to bring about.
Then, his immediate point was about the business models run on Free Software. This led us into the Free Software industry models like the Service,Support and Customised Solution providing scenarios.
He was rigid about his ideas about IT Business models being analogous to Proprietary firms. So,I had to bring up the essential topic of the quality of Technology that is emanating from Free Software, using the Internet as example, which thrives on Free Software. Then, came in Cloud Computing, and his Proprietary contenders would be seen misplaced in near future when we will all embrace Cloud Computing.
Also,I used instances of my acquaintances who are successful entrepreneurs today based on Free Software to manifest its potential in the current recession struck(and slowly recovering) world. Free Software provides the best platform for all the binary babies to become self sufficient and independent.
Talking about successful implementations of Free Software in the society-I mentioned Venezuela,Brazil and our own Kerala, which are fully "Free". Then, the question of Government supporting it,and that it would be convenient if it was Leftist. His immediate doubt was that if I was a Leftist, and I knew that I had crossed the line between Right and Left, moving towards Left.Although,I am not fully convinced yet,and am in the process of comprehending it myself.
Talking about Indian Democracy(of which both of us were unhappy about),I suggested a two-party system to make some sense out of this chaos(without mentioning what exactly I had in mind). But,he immediately put out my thoughts and said-For a system like India to fall into the right track,we need to be under an appropriate Dictatorship for atleast a decade(Exactly my ideas,I have spoken to a few of you about this).
Then, again came the Profit making vs not-so much profit making Free Softare industry, according to him. I then told if he was fancied by the Profits of a certain Proprietary Company,it was ultimately at the cost of exploiting the society. And it would be the ethics and morale of the individual to decide upon.
Personal conviction is the greatest strength, and the lack of it is man's greatest weakness.

Race between Freud and Che !
Two of the most adamant revolutionaries the world has known- Sigmund Freud and Che Guevara. This post will be the first of many I would be compelled to write about these two 'men',Nah!Two eternal minds.Although both were relevant to different fields-the inner core of their life was the same "Groundbreaking Ideas and a pathbreaking Journey".
I have already been admiring Freud for long time, although haven't read him entirely. I felt then that I required to groom myself a bit more mentally,to be able to comprehend and contemplate him. I had started with his most famous work-Interpretation of Dreams and paused the read after reading about 30% of it.
And about Che. I wasn't aware of him, until a mentor of mine happened to mention him,and talked passionately about him. I have since then tried to collect information about him,and have been left astounded by his ideas and his revolutionary life.
But,now my mind is simultaneously craving for both the greats. When I am reading Freud,I want to get more of Che. And while being immersed in the ocean of ideas of Che,I feel like drowning into Freud. This contention is driving me to get more of both the Mavericks.
People like Freud and Che are definitely a rarity. We need to fulfill their purpose of life by reading them, and trying to play our role in fulfilling their 'ideas'.
PS: We should not mourn for men of high ideals. Rather we should rejoice that we had the privilege of having had them with us, to inspire us by their radiant personalities.

Power of Choice
"Imagine a world without choice"....This is the first line of a personal favourite video-Choice by Redhat.
A more relevant adaptation of the above statement in the current post's context would be-"Imagine a life without choice".
The varied emotions we humans go through, the ups and downs of our lives, all would be shunted if there were no choice to make. Imagine a life with a defined set of paths to be tread on,without an option of making a choice.Life would be so stagnant and trivial that,we'd not realize even our own existence.
Existence is complimented by the struggle to exist. There would be no struggle,if there were no choices to make. People would take life as it is,and,do nothing beyond filling the formalities. The power of choice lies in the fact that,it,by functioning in the background gives value to our lives by altering the course of our lives, and also by incorporating the much needed suspense in our lives!
Recollecting a dialogue from Girish Karnad's play would be apt to conclude this post:
If you have made a choice between the two paths you want to tread on;The other path will always remain a secret haunting you.

Bangalore Book Festival-2009
A single visit to my regular book store-Blossoms,takes me atleast 3 hours. Today, after missing it the last two times,I made it to the amazing Bangalore Book Festival.
390 stalls, with around 160 for English,80 for Kannada, and rest for regional languages. It was as expected-Overwhelming.I had decided before hand to purchase few good Kannada titles this time. As,getting Kannada titles during regular times is tough. The best stall was by LeftWord, with Karl Marx,Bhagat Singh,Einstien, Che Guvera,Fidel Castro, and other powerful Leftists. It was the peak of Red :)
Unfortunate though,by the time I reached this stall I was on reserve funds :(
The books I bought this time are of varied genres. Nevertheless, will make a real good reading treat. I have sufficient books accumulated from my today's and last month's purchases to last an year!
These are the titles I bought today:
4.Swami Vivekananda on Himself-Writings about himself,Something like an Autobiography
5. Valhalla Rising-Clive Cussler
6. Shock Wave-Clive Cussler;My favourite writer-character combination-Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt :)
7. Pride and Prejudice-Jane Austen;Have been missing out this one for long time, but will read it this season :)
8.The 3 mistakes of my Life-Chetan Bhagat,for my sis
My current read though is Hegemony or Survival by Noam Chomsky.

The question is WHY! Stratum1:Understanding the Human 'Race':
Life is a sexually transmitted disease with 100% mortality!
A famous witty joke. We,being born is definitely not in our power,or will. After, stepping into the world, what is the motive behind us living our lives? What keeps us going? Is it mere survival, like animals? Why do we complicate our lives? What do we seek ultimately? What is satisfaction?
Lots of many such fundamental questions have been loitering in the naturally electrified regions of my brain. Then,I decided to ponder over these, and spill it out to you people in a series of posts titled-The question is WHY!***.
This will be the first in the series-Understanding the Human 'Race'.
By 'Race' I mean both our creed, and the herd-like race we run our entire lives. Most of us,unaware of the direction,or the motive,or the ultimate destination. Most of the actions are instigated not by selfish motives, but to cater/counter our peers' actions. Lives are lived mimicking people around, without a core reason behind our lives. And,I wonder how such a thing could make one happy!
You are your truest when no one's around you. Another profoundly true statement. We try to impress/instigate/irritate/ people around to be recognised one among them. And as a reaction even they are engaged in similar activities. The world would be a lot better place if people would live their lives, the way it should be!Just for the sake of the person living it,and not hindering the rest of the world!
If we just slow down for sometime, and introspect our actions,we would definitely be leading a lot better life:)
***Intended at most of us,but I know a lot many, who are the true human 'beings'

Hey Ram!....Aalavandaan :(
The post title contains names of two of the best movies which have culminated from Indian Cinema. These movies were released in 2000 and 2001 respectively.Because these were released when I was about 13,I had missed them then. I watched these two now,and have been left astounded by the man behind these pinncales of Indian Cinema. Both the movies have Story,Screenplay and Dialogues written by the genius Kamal Hassan. And Hey Ram was also directed by Kamal.
Hey Ram is a movie which cannot be measured by any standards-NO standard would be sufficient.A story of the unfortunate pain and bitterness between the Hindu and Muslim communities of the then Unpartitioned India, till date.A cinematic masterpiece of sorts. A plot which is so well interleaved with History, that it takes you through the mind of a sensible Indian citizen then- Saketh Ram,witnessing the chaos and blasphemy. The character tries to pin down the cause, and is convinced that it's M K Gandhi. The dialogues pertaining to Gandhi are the most brave ones written(keeping the hyper sensitive Indian population and media in mind!).I was applauding within for the dialogue where he relates the People of India to Gandhi's Three Monkeys, and while talking about people, goats, goat milk and Bakrid!
Apart from the dialogues, the cast is impeccable. The best casting ever in an Indian cinema. Not just a star studded one, but,as I've already mentioned-An impeccable one.Music again-a soul stirring background score, and the best track-Nee Partha Paarvai attains the musical zenith of the movie.
This is a movie, which is less famous in India because it is again something which is above the caliber of an average Indian mind. The final justification given for the protagonist's Principle Reversal is mainly to console the audience, according to me. A must watch for any person related to India.Kamal Hassan excels in every field of the movie he's involved in.
Now,talking about Aalavandhaan. A movie lot ahead of its times.Schizophrenia,as the basis of the movie, with again techniques and dialogues better than any movies. The movie has portions of cartoonish scenes in it.And,for those of you who didn't know, that's Anime style of movie making.Kill Bill Vol 1 too(2003)has similar inclusions. The scenes of drug induced hallucinations the protagonist undergoes are exemplary. The poems written by Vairamuthu, and beautifully recited by Kamal create a scintillating impact. Although,it has its few flaws, but the movie is a masterpiece yet again.
And,with a genius behind both these, and a lot more of quality Indian Cinema like Devar Magan,Anbe Sivam,Virumaandi-I declare myself an ardent Kamal Hassan fan from now on.

Grudge of the unaccomplished !
The character of most humans is unfortunately so brittle. He cannot bear the success of a fellow idealist, who brings forms to his ideas- by hard work.
A soft headed creature, like the accused(not one,but a bunch) in my current discussion ridicules the success, mocks at the triumphs, envies the accomplishments of the worthy-All behind a superficially cohesive facade, which is a slimy distraught of negativities.
I have seen very few people who admire, and get inspired by the success of their peers.Instead, ironically, they look for support and inspiration from unreachable human idols(The Superstar role models!),or a supposedly supreme power who always is resting in idols(The God!)
They never are able to see the manifestation of the supreme commandment of human nature, which is,To pursue our ideas. This truth (or discomfort!) is blinded by the cataract of jealousy.
Unfortunate though, this is the stigmatic reality which each of us is -either a part,or victim ,or atleast an audience of.

And then,She also brings tears in my eyes.
I haven't been this close to any person residing inside the body of a girl. I have had deep insights into her mind, and have been astounded by the sheer complexity of the tender mind. I have witnessed her growth from a jovial young girl to a fine introspective lady who is older for what she really is. She has confided to me with the utmost honesty. I have observed her pranks with amusement, her worries and troubles ,her mild grudges, her cribbing with futile concern.
I have adored her the most for whatever she eternally will be.She has one sidedly shared all her emotions with me, leaving the rapport between us incomplete, for, she never gave me a chance to share mine. I wish to tell her how similar we are,and to demonstrate to her the extent of admiration I still have, and forever will continue to have.
The helplessness which the circumstances had imposed upon her increases the rage against The Main Impostor. But,the courage she went on to show throughout will be an inspiration for me. A friend, a teacher, an idol-this is what she will remain to me.
Anne Frank's Diary is the most compelling narration of the struggle within a juvenile's mind, who is also caught up in History's greatest human trap under the Nazis. Her memoirs give a profound insight into Anne, her transitions, her love, her struggle, and her invincible spirit.
When reading her diary, there were times when her confiding would seep into me and evoke a drop or two of tears in tribute to her. Also,I was able to relate her to a friend of mine, who, for all the above mentioned traits of Anne would fit in perfectly.
PS:Anne Frank died in an extermination camp when she was 15 years old,but her eternal thoughts will live on.

Day One @ Work had to be Special, and so it was !
Today will go down as an important day of my life. The first day at work had many pleasant and one not-so pleasant revelations for me.
The ambience-It is one of the best of the places I've seen, and to be working in one such place is superb. The office building is one of the most environment friendly one, with ample daylight, fresh air, lots of plants in and around the building. That's a huge plus :)
Then, peers of the team I'm a part of,were very amicable, without letting me feel even a small air of hostility. Hope to have a great rapport with them, and not to mention loads of lessons to be learnt from them.
About the work:It is the closest to what I wanted, and, I believe this is the best place for me to embark upon my career. Glad to have joined MROTEK :)

FOSS Camp @ SJCE,Mysore
I was glad to visit Mysore after more than 7-8 years. The city is simply beautiful, something which Bengaluru used to be!
I visited SJCE for their FOSS Camp on behalf of FSMK.The enthusiasts of SJCE had efficiently organised and were executing a 3 day FOSS Camp from 30th Oct - 1st Nov. The activities they had planned were very attractive and appealing.Free Software tools introduction,Coding competition, Online Treasure Hunt, Talks from Google experts on their Open Source APIs,Debugging competition, and Online Gaming(Open Arena),and their online event-Kryptos.The star has been Kryptos, with very good reception from even outsiders.
My talk representing Free Sofwtare Movement-Karnataka,was today, on the final day,at 11 am. This was one of the rare talks of mine, when a small sense of apprehension had occupied my mind. It was because,I was told late that the audience would comprise entirely of CSE and ISE,with very few ECE students. And my preparation for the session had been entirely about Free Software and ECE.
I eventually did improvise more generic ideas into the talk,by emphasizing on the Social and Economic ramifications of the Movement,by discussing Threats of Software patents. And,today being Kannada Rajyotsava,I appealed to the audience to take up Kannada Localisation further, and also for an increase in the number of Kannada Bloggers. Then came the overview of diverse Free Software tools encompassing various fields, and also in relation to a Project I'm a part of. And the highlight of my session was the post questionnaire encore appearance of Truth Happens! They, like everyone fell in love with it.
Then, the offline discussions with various queries and doubts. It was fascinating for me to see the enthusiasm these students were displaying-It should be an inspiration for our upcoming GLUGs.
Overall,A good interaction as I see it,and, hopefully their time was utilised in a quality manner.
PS: Link to this event, register and try out kryptos http://fosscamp.lccsjce.org/events.html

"The People University"
Meeting people and assimilating traits inspired from them is the best method to groom oneself. The immense impact it imparts on us is more than that which can be delivered by any other means;be it art,or literature.
People are the best source of inspiration for positive, as well as negative influence. And,meeting a lot of right kind of people can infuse high dosages of intoxicating ideals, from which indigenous ideas could emanate.
I have been very lucky in this regard. The rich genre of quality people I interact with on a daily basis has taught me numerous lessons, helped me develop and hone few new talents, and to derive motivation to get better everyday.
I shall remain indebted to each of you, for, I have acquired a little bit of you,and assimilated that precious piece of you into the core of me.

Akashabheri- And What an experience!
Today, for the first time I watched a full length play. And,I have been left drowning in a sea of emotions. The vivid performances, and its impact upon me has been pleasant and profound.
It was a Kannada play-Akashabheri by Ninasan Thirugata. The theme was about two fellow comrades of Bhagat Singh, who reminisce about him. It questions the quality of Freedom we obtained in 1947, in light of Bhagat's views, which were highly idealistic.
Bhagat says-I do not want just freedom. I want a freedom which is obtained in the right way,and not with any compromises. I want a freedom which the future generations will cheerfully enjoy and utilise.
He foresees the chaos which the freedom won on compromises would unleash. He had had the foresight to predict the current condition of India.Bhagat criticises Gandhi-he says, he has the right to do it,as he admires him as well.
Although, the story of Bhagat Singh and the revolutionaries is well heard and said, this experience of watching it as a play has surpassed the conveyance through any other medium. I seldom get scintillated or am left with goose-bumps while watching movies, neither do I cry often. But,I don't remember how many times I sat in awe with tears in my eyes today. Once,I felt like crying out loud. This is an experience I shall never forget my entire life.
The live music, the choreography, the dialogues, the performances, the theme, and in totality the entire play was impeccable and highly impactful.
I really feel sad that I have been missing such gratifying experiences all this long in my life. I urge all of you to watch atleast one play soon, then you'll know what is to be done next.
Few of my friends used to talk about movies as some sort of mediocre product when compared to Plays, and now I myself am on a path of revelation of this fact i guess.

Nature vs Nurture !
An important debate could be based on this. Not only a debate, but a thesis can be arrived at starting from this contention -Nature vs Nurture.
As far as I've seen and analysed, people are groomed mainly based on the way they are nurtured in the circumstances they are exposed to.Their nature/hereditary traits/genetics does very little in shaping their personality. The qualities a person assimilates throughout his/her life is what gives a distinct meaning and purpose to that life. If the circumstances were any different, the person would be groomed in a totally different manner.
Parents play an important role;not by transferring their traits through the genes, but by selecting and/or influencing the circumstances their ward grows up in. This is the ultimate role of parents-To provide an ambience well suited for the nurturing of the child into a worthy person.
In Hereditary, or by nature, only physical qualities can be transferred and has nothing to do with the psychology of a human. So,ultimately nurturing is the winner, shaping the nature of a human.

Is this it ? Yes,This Is it !
After massive turbulences which rocked me from all directions, finally they seem to have mellowed down. I'm talking about the anxiety about my career which was haunting me for the past three months. Tsunamic brain waves which used to flood me with numerous options, digressing my energies to different directions are hopefully retracting.
I am joining MRO-TEK (a core company for ECE!),and I'm more than happy. It won't just empower me into a working professional, but will clear out the clog in my mind. But,these were the days when I was being highly introspective and trying to see what I wanted. Ultimately now,I think I am at a place where I wanted to be.
Hoping for the best:)

FInally some reasons to hail BBMP !
Off late, the reckless works by the Bangalore city corporation-Bruhath Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) has mellowed down. Now,there are resasons to hail them, and appreciate them for their work.
One of the best things(although not very essential) is the ban of movie postering over the canvas of all city walls. It was horrendous, and more than that disgusting.
This ban has been followed up with painting these walls by the instances of the rich cultural and natural heritage the state of Karnataka possesses. This has converted these previously shabby walls into arena of beautiful and heart soothing artistry over the walls. This,by my reckoning has been the best move taken up by the BBMP concerned with the appearance of Bengaluru.
Now, it is up to us that we take good care of these beautiful canvases.
Good Job BBMP :)

Three days of euphoria:Studsat @ Nitte
Yet again an official trip by Studsat:This time to Nitte for three days-to address and interact with the students from five branches. The sessions including a presentation and a questionnaire. The response from the students and management were highly positive.
With this part done,it was up to us to enjoy to the fullest, which again we accomplished successfully. Numerous places-Kaarkala,Moodbidri,Kaup beach,Udupi,Kodyaka,Surathkal,Mangalore coupled with utmost delicious food and a damp weather which made us less lethargic.
This Diwali will be my best until now, with no exposure to the emissions which I'm allergic and repellent to. But,instead I had the most closest encounter with Mother Nature's beauty.
Added to this was the weather, and more than everything the warm local people made the trip for all six of us an Ideal experience.

Looking forward to more such experiences with the team, because you guys were like icing on the cake, making it much more enjoyable:)

Perspectives,Perceptions and Paradigm shifts.
Perspectives are the lenses through which each of us look at everything except ourselves. Change of perspectives happen very often, sometimes in an instant. They are ephemeral. The way of thinking after a change in perspective leads to a paradigm shift. Consider comparing our paradigms with those of children:
Even the simplest of the things hold immense value to children. This kind of a perception is the most gratifying one. As we grow older,we seem to drift away from this beautiful way of life to a more barren and calculative perception. This is the reason for discontentment in an adult's life;which is all the more ubiquitous nowadays.
A simple book which intuitively talks about Perspectives,Perceptions and Paradigm shifts is The Little Prince,by Antoine de Saint-Exupery a French aviator. It is the most politely done mock at all of us,who do not value the simple things in life.
One of the best lines from the book would be:
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Voilà!
On this most auspicious of nights permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace sobriquet to suggest the character of this dramatis persona.
In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation
of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance,a vendetta held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose.
So let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you,and you may call me V.
PS: These are the lines spoken as self introduction by V,and as you must have read it,these are undoubtedly the best lines ever written or spoken. V for Vendetta remains one of the most closest movies to me.

Nobel Peace Prize 2009- A faux pas?
I admire Mr.Obama, check out my post Not only the greatest orator of our times,he's more than that... Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Firstly, congratulations to him.
But awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize of the year seems premature. He has only made his promises, and there hasn't been significant influence from his words. These, when enacted will definitely be worth an accolade. But,this is just preposterous. While the American troops still haven't retracted,or the situation in the Mid-east hasn't mellowed, this act of recognition seems to reduce the credibility of the award itself.
I consider this to be a prospective award to Mr.Obama for his future endeavours,I wish him luck. And,in such a case, after five nominations,Mahatma Gandhi wasn't conferred with The Nobel Peace Prize. So,the committee better award him a posthumous one, else the Nobel Peace Prize will become a symbol of a misjudgement.
Let Peace prevail-Nob(e)ly !!!

Feeling feather-light !!!
A dilemma which had snow balled into a parasite, chewing over my senses has been caught. The culprit was trying to hide behind a façade of the improbables and unreasonables, but still had me convinced. Now that I have confided my condition with the only person on this earth,I feel that I'll get out of this maze.
Hope-my friends,I see Hope out of this clumsy trap. Not a Hope that some divine force is going to wash it all off with no traces, but my own will, and then no matter what -I shall have my say this time.
You see frustration oozing out of me here. No,its more than that-a fear of losing oneself. I know all this would not make much sense, but I am now able to see this situation as an outsider and will pull myself out from it.The only hindrance being TIME,and as always it is against me....

My recent Readlist ;)
Recently,I have been discussing a lot of books, and mildly suggesting them too to few of my friends.I was recollecting the books I have read recently, and was personally happy when remembering their variety and quality.Maybe by mentioning them here, you might find it useful.
I shall mention only my last five reads,in reverse chronology:
*The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (Fiction)
*Free Software,Free Society compilation of essays by Richard Matthew Stallman (Software/Philosophy/Freedom)
*Back to Methuselah by George Bernard Shaw(Play with witty short essays as introduction)
*Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler (AutoBoigraphy)-Completed only Part 1,will read Part 2 after a small absorption break !
*The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga (Fiction)
All these books have been good in their own right. Currently though,I am reading Diary of Anne Frank, again, a classic with its own heritage.
The mindset we get into while reading a particular book is the success of the author. The influence it has on your life is the success of the literature.

Death isn't a loss....It is a treasure of incomplete bittersweet memories ....
Today, while in conversation with a friend of mine,I happened to talk about the loss of my cousin on 24th July this year. And,even now i haven't been able to fathom his death.I am constantly reminded of the various memories involving him... It has always been this way-The loss of all my dear ones until now, after the initial deep anguish, the sensation evades into a recurrence of flashing memories involving them, and this causes a mild pain and a flood of emotions associated with them....
I think this is what each of us leave behind-A beautiful collection of bittersweet memories, sometimes complete and most of the times incomplete ones...

Mother Earth's rightful Fury....
There can be prophecies and, there can be super natural premonitions about The Ultimate End...But,the fact is that-We have crossed the threshold in consuming the natural assets allocated to us long before our time...And we are having to pay up for the reckless and unscrupulous consumption...
Earth quakes, floods, rains, droughts and newer biological threats-these are the rightful extortion techniques Mother Earth has employed...
Take for instance, the northern regions of Karnataka; Most dry regions of the state, which usually are in drought are being flooded with around 150-200 mm of rainfall within a span of 24 hours... When Mother Nature unleashes herself in such a form, little can we the minuscule creatures do....
As it is clear that we cannot undo the unscrupulous consumption, the only thing is to atleast do efficient repair work by firstly mellowing down...And as previously told on my post for World Environment Day[Save the planet .... Kill Yourself !!!-Friday, June 5, 2009 ],change our lifestyle...Else,this havoc will heal Mother Earth by eradicating its Cancer-us....
(Observe the picture-a representation of our present and the near future !)

The Lost Symbol: My views
The Lost Symbol,is now what could be called "A characteristic Robert Langdon type of a novel".... The cryptic symbols, the thrilling deciphering, entangled with ground breaking scientific ramifications, and a race against time in the dark accompanied by the impeccable Robert Langdon ....
My amazement at the abundant research which has gone into Dan Brown's previous works had prompted me to become his fan. And,I haven't been disappointed with The Lost Symbol....Although,I am sure I would have enjoyed it in a more profound way if I were a U.S national...(People who've read it will agree with me)
And about the thrill and suspense factor,I guess after reading Dan Brown four times I was intuitively able to predict variuos twists, which will be much more thrilling to the newbes... Although,I was hit hard with one of the twists which i hadn't expected...That was sufficient to quench my instincts in this regard...
The read, for its own reasons is actually quicker than the non-Dan Brown ones. But,you do feel let down at places, and immediately there's something much better which again propels you into the hot seat....
The best part for me was the convergence of the entire plot into an idea I have nourished from adolescence, and now that it was crystalizing into a belief,The Lost Symbol has got into a proper shape....Thanks to Mr.Brown...
Highlight of the book obvioulsy for me was Noetic Science, which I was unaware of,and i shall have my senses kept open to absorb more of it....
And,not to forget, Compliments to Mr.Dan Brown for his work... Expecting more of you Mr.Brown...

Who's the best superhero??? A debate Tarantino style ;)
"As you know,I'm quite keen on comic books.Especially the ones about superheroes.I find the whole mythology surrounding superheroes fascinating.
Take my favourite superhero, Superman. Not a great comic book. Not particularly well-drawn. But the mythology... The mythology is not only great,it's unique. Now, a staple of the superhero mythology is, there's the superhero and there's the alter ego.
Batman is actually Bruce Wayne,Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic Superman stands alone.
Superman didn't become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red "S" -that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears - the glasses, the business suit - that's the costume. That's the costume Superman wears to blend in with us.
Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent?
He's weak......he's unsure of himself......he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race."
(Lines spoken by Bill in Kill Bill Vol 2,written by Quentin Tarantino)

What a wonderful person !!!
Mr.Subramani-the senior Sub editor of Deccan Herlad for the last six years...He has been a journalist for a longer period...He was the special invited speaker for the Software Freedom Day celebration at CMRIT from FSMK.
A gifted orator, with a simple but powerful accent, with a tone perfectly conveying the immaculate words for the occasion, left us astounded... He spoke about the role software developers, particularly of the Swatantra Software communities,in providing Accessibility Tools to the Differently Abled set of users, like a Text-to-Speech convertor,text-to-braille convertor,Optical text scanned data-to-speech...
He instigated the audience to take up these tasks as a challenge, which is more relevant in the Indian scenario, where the opportunities for the Differently Abled are drastically less, atleast when compared to Western countries, pin pointing the Social Insecurity persistent in India!!!
After, the session I happened to know his other facets-a very jovial person with profound thoughts, and words of advice which inspired me all the more.... This interaction with him has made a substantial impact on me,like all the others who were the audience... His accomplishments in life, efficiently mock at the system, and even more on most of us who complain of unfavourable circumstances for pursuing our goals...
These by itself are sufficient to admire a person like him...We would admire him all the more for he's accomplished all of it after he'd lost his power of sight completely since high school...
Thank you Mr.Subramani for being such a precious source of human values :)

Sec 1:Birthday @ STUDSAT Sec 2: "It will be on your blog"!!!
Sec 1:
A sudden plan to celebrate friend cum team mate's birthday today...And after hastily wrapping up a Talk at one of the colleges about STUDSAT,we were present in full attendance for the Birthday of JJM(We insiders have a cool expansion to it)....
A delicious Black Forest was harvested by the Birthday Girl with crude help from us,and a gratifying dinner at one of my favorite places-Nesara...
Happy birthday again Ms.JJM ;)
Sec 2:
My friends today tried pulling my leg over my incessant relation of my blog with my activities-It will be on your blog!!!,is what they kept on saying, which was quite hilarious...
Most of the things worth mentioning which happen to me,are all on my blog-that was my motive behind blogging...Now, it has become a part of my means of expressing myself to people...So,can't blame it ;)

Software Freedom Day(SFD)and FSMK @NIT-K,accompanied by an impeccable Mother Nature....
The five of us from FSMK,little did we anticipate that this journey to NIT-K to propagate Swatantra Software would turn out to be one of the most memorable ones, both in context of purpose and pleasure perspectives....
Karthikeyan,Naveen,Prabodh,Vishal and myself were the team from FSMK visting NIT-K,Surathkal.... An aesthetically soothing journey, and a much better experience there at their campus in celebrating Software Freedom.... The sessions scheduled at 9.30 am on the 19th of September could be started only by 11.00am....Thanks to the delay of the train..Although the session was delayed,we luckily got exposed to an exquisite and sublime vista of the breathtaking Western Coast bathed in post monsoon showers(Hingaaru Male !!!),making it a divine experience to all of us.....
The session was in one of the seminar halls of NIT-K . To our pleasant surprise and awe,the NIT-K students released a customised GNU/Linux Distro compiled, keeping a technical student in mind. It was named ENGINUX,and was basically UBUNTU 9.04 with lots of technical tools adequate for a technical student...

From our side,Naveen started the Swatantra Software Philosophy, briefing the audience about the "Free Software",the disambiguation between "free as in freedom" and "free as in freebie"...He also touched upon other essential basics for a Open Source fan to become a Free Software activist....His part of the session lasted for about 40 minutes...
Karthikeyan,he spoke about the role of FSMK in the Free Software context of Karnataka....Emphasizing on the formation of GLUGS in institutions, and empowering the communities by activating smaller sections of the same into adopting Swatantra Software....
I happened to share my views about FSMK as a platform to do our part to the society, quoting Kerala Govt. school program and the Govt. Teachers Workshop which we were a part of...An ad hoc interaction with the students for an SFD give-away T shirt was conducted, wherein we asked the students to think of pragmatic means of making Swatantra Software reach the society at all tiers... And, after initial hesitation we received around 10 valuable suggestions, ranging from incorporating Free Software into schooling,to installing Free Software with newly purchased hardware, and also that the Govt.should step in and endorse Free Software setting an example for the society to follow...As, only one T shirt was to be given,we decided to acknowledge a suggestion made by a student to reach the community by imbibing the movement with the community by personal interactions, ultimately leading to a sustained system of Free Software Communities....
After this session,Karthik demonstrated gnokii- a tool used to send sms from the terminal through a GSM network. Prabodh shared his experience of being involved in a project at CMRIT with his students using gnokii. We have instigated 4 of the active students(the prospective core team), to revive their free software activities by forming a GLUG. The overall response from them has been more than satisfactory and very encouraging. We are hopeful of an active GLUG at NIT-K very soon...
From, there on it was yet another exhilarating experience at the Surathkal beach, with some time spent on top of the light house...Finally, a race to reach the train and we got it at the nick of time....
This trip has been an amazing experience to all volunteers invlolved,we've learnt like in every session something more,to better our activities.... Thanks for the support at FSMK :)

Rendezvous with a dreamer,on his way to acheivement
(The pic is only a depiction of the post, and is not related to it...)
Son of a farmer from a corner of Karnataka,he arrived in Bangalore with huge dreams of composing music, writing songs and singing in the glossy arena of Cinema, but now, he runs a Photocpying centre here in Bangalore....He had been let down by the people he went seeking support from.
But,he hasn't let his passion die down. He is now making his first full fledged,Kannada music album-which is at the verge of completion. He's an ardent and pious Kannada fanatic....But,unlike the other fanatics of the same genre,he's not chauvinistic. While interacting with him,I could feel the pride which made his face glow, and also which serves his life a purpose.
Most recent regional songs in India have been lacking sensibility in the lyrics, this has been a personal complaint. But,this 'believer', played me one of the songs of his album-the studio version, and showed me lyrics of the other songs. They were far too better than the songs I've heard recently in the regional domain.
When asked why he was doing it,he says it has been his dream and passion for years, and now with tremendous effort, crossing innumerable hurdles he has come up with this album. The album is slated to release for Kannada Rajyotsava.Although he is still working out the plan, and figuring out how to sell it to an appropriate Music company.
People like-Kumar Durga Prasad, the one we've been talking about are a source of inspiration. We need to look up to people like him,for he,given his circumstances still followed his dream and almost has pursued it.For him to accomplish and be successful in it,we need to be with him showing our support...
Wishing him success for his album "Jai Karnataka Maathe",and those of you who feel that you can make this story have a Happy Ending reach me.
I will keep you updated about him....

Beauty beholds in the eyes of the admirer..But why???
The caption is a dear and well known cliché... But,I was wondering why is it so? As I have seen personally, the range of admiration for 'beauty' in various forms spreads on a wide scale.
An entity,be it a person, or an artifact, or anything else, appeals to our senses only when we are able to recognise a part of ourselves in them,or only if we see something in it we have been craving for.
I, wholeheartedly admire the three natural gifts bestowed on this earth-the flora, the fauna and the femina. This,I feel is pretty normal,or should I say natural. I partially recognise myself with them, and also find in them the things I as an aesthetic soul craves for....Consequently,I look for,and find beauty in them....
One other instance is literature... The most beautiful things I have read until now have been the ones which I would have wanted to write myself,or something which I can relate to myself....
It is actually an irony:The most beautiful things to us are the ones we are a part of,and/or the things we crave for.... But,recognising and enjoying beauty in any form gives us an unparalleled sensation...Thanks to all the intimate complications of our mind coupled with the power of nature which immerses us into this sweet sensation....

9-11 and the paragigm shift
The inhuman atrocity of the 9-11 attacks have caused the biggest paradigm shift of this age,in positive as well as negative ways...
The 'war on terror' snowballed after this, once the US and UK were compelled to get their feet really wet. This has probably reduced the number and extent of such future attacks. But, I see this war going towards an inconclusive end.
The negative aspect is the cynicism, which has increased beyond any permissible limit. The way Asians, especially the Muslims are perceived throughout the world has become hostile. This hostility is increasing the bitterness in the wounded hearts of the people of these communities.
9-11,is a black day which will keep us reminding of the brutality of the human race.Let it also not mark this as -the day when the world turned its back to a deeply hurt and humiliated section of itself.....
Terrorism cannot be defeated by hurting ourselves....We need to have a broader perspective and endorse this paradigm....

A negative nuance of our culture !!!
I was in a debate with a friend about the ratifications of our culture and a distinct society like ours,in moulding us into individuals...
We live in a society where personal bondings and relationships are of prime importance and huge committed responsibilities. And I acknowledge that this has kept our society cordial and bonded unlike few other societies of the world. But, there is definitely a slight negative aspect to it.
Now, is the time when most of my peers and myself are trying to make up our minds regarding our future. And, these decisions most of us are taking now is a result of considering the various pros and cons of it to our families. I don't deny that this isn't the way its got to be. But,in retrospect we would all realise that we have underplayed ourselves. In most cases,we would have decided to tread on a path which is just slightly more than mediocre.
To excel individually,we need to take risks, which should not be restricted by our societal and personal bindings. And also,by the time we are set free from the conservative cocoons of our families into the society, the most valuable time is gone, and as a consequence we are ready to compromise.
Something contrary to this,I feel has been the secret behind the success of the western world where independence of an individual isn't just restricted to the constitution, but also reaches the individual at every stratum. And thinking freely is what will help us excel, and compromises will compromise our accomplishments.
I know most of you would not be convinced, but this is one of the major contributors in making our society a mediocre one starving and craving for independent minds....

A game which turned into a romantic love story :)
Imagination kept on hampering Sam's work but he enjoyed it...
But,on an eventful day his imagination created a beautiful girl-Maia in his mind and he could no more work nor enjoy it... Everytime he was imagining about her,he was singing, "I'm only a human, with a heart by name Maia"....It was again the work of his imagination which made him believe that Maia was in his heart, which actually was a falsity... She had fully occupied his mind... She had become his soul...
Sam wholeheartedly believed that he was living with her...People thought he was going insane..But,he didn't belong to them. The people and their comments seemed ridiculous and silly to him. By now his imagination had even created Maia's physical sensation within him. He was in unison with her.
Once,in the King's palace while he was deeply engrossed about her as always and working,Sam hurt himself...Instead of feeling the pain for himself,he visualised Maia crying for him, which hurt him more,he started saying"Oh my Maia, don't you cry.It makes my heart go dry!!!".
This came to the notice of the King. He presumed Sam had a beautiful angel, who was invisible to others as his LOVE. So,he was tortured to confess and comply to their facts about his angel....
As Sam's torture was the torture to his Maia,Sam agreed to draw a picture of her in front of the entire kingdom. He imposed a condition that once he had finished ,Sam would be proclaimed the husband of Maia by the king himself. The king did agree to it.
And when he started drawing her,he had kept his eyes closed. The image that was transcending on to the paper was the most beautiful thing anyone but the king had ever seen. People around were astonished seeing this beautiful woman. And the king couldn't believe his eyes. The king wanted his daughter-the princess to see it... Until then, no one ever had including Sam had seen the princess....So, they were all waiting for the princess to witness the act of Sam...
To everyone's bewilderment the princess was exactly the same as the beautiful woman drawn by Sam....Everyone including the king were dumbfounded, but Sam had known he would meet his Maia.... When the princess looked into Sam's eyes, she felt, she had known him from ages. All the people seemed to melt away, and all the flowers started blooming to celebrate their love. The love between them was felt everywhere(with the music of Rahman in the background)....
And then, as a mark of their Love, they came closer to kiss. Her eyes were as if saying"I can't taste my lips, can you do it for me",he then comes closer complying to her affectionate demand. There was a breeze carrying love blowing silently with the fragrance of all the beautiful flowers elating their mood. They were close enough to kiss,when....
Someone shouted,"Sam,its getting late to class dude, get up you dreamer !!!"...He then reluctantly gets up,then realises his girl, his love would already be in college and rushes to her.... He looks at her...His eyes says it all....She knows it all,but she still pretends.... But,deep within their hearts and minds they crave for each other.....
THE END
Wow....This was what came out of a game which a friend and me were engaged in... Alternately we had to imagine a scene and - This,a silly but sweet story came up... Almost every alternate sentence is in response to the others words... And I think she's done all the better part of it....
But,on an eventful day his imagination created a beautiful girl-Maia in his mind and he could no more work nor enjoy it... My teachers and Me :)
The importance of having good teachers has been emphasised in our Indian Culture from times immemorial.... I,personally have grown tremendously by absorbing various traits from my teachers... I have believed that the best role models are teachers and have been lucky enough to have had atleast one amazing teacher as a role model at every point of time...
The first teacher who had impact in moulding me was my High School Headmaster- Mr.Irudayaraj(Seen in the first pic)... Seeing him I started believing that perfection in tasks does exist, and discipline in actions is the best way of executing them....
During my Pre University,I met the most dynamic person I have known till date.... He was the teacher who broke the myth about Trigonometry(we had inherited from our seniors that it was obscure and impractical)... Mr. Madhukar was young, energetic, charismatic and very amicable.... He taught me Trigonometry and it still remains one of my favourite subjects....
Another teacher during that period was Mr.Basavaraj,my Kannada teacher... He was an erudite person, with immense Kannada literature behind his friendly persona... He increased my interest in literature in general, and Kannada in particular....
After reaching B.E,I have been very lucky to have studied under Ramachandran Sir, NDN, Jojy Ma'm....But, the highest impact has been undoubtedly by Bandopadhay Sir(Seen in the second pic with us on college ethnic day).... He will forever be a part of me....
Even at home, my mom being a teacher, and my sister an aspiring teacher have had incessant impact...
I am extremely grateful to these circumstances which have made me know all these beautiful people, and moulded me into a person you all know me to be....
Thanks to all the teachers who have moulded me,I shall forever be indebt to you...
Happy Teachers Day !!!
